About the Organization:
Science Olympiad, an academic competition team, is one of the leading STEM competitions in the nation. Competitions consist of many events which cover a variety of different fields, including geology, astronomy, ecology, physics, engineering, biology, and chemistry. Events have different formats, with many falling into the categories of written test events, build events, or lab events. The three levels of tournaments are the regional tournament, the state tournament, and the national tournament. Top performing teams at the regional tournament receive an invitation to the state competition in April, and the top two teams in the state are able to participate in the national tournament in May
Science Olympiad at Pope:
We normally meet at least once a week in order to collaborate on builds and share information on upcoming events. Typically, Pope High School competes in one or two informal invitationals before the regional tournament. In late February or early March, we attend a regional tournament at a nearby college or university. The top teams in each region receive an invitation to the state tournament held in April.
